Nokia is everywhere these days. You cannot click on a video on YouTube without getting a pre-roll (commercial before video starts) of the new Nokia Lumia, a smartphone the Finnish phonegiant has made together with Microsoft. For both Microsoft and Nokia the Lumia is the proof of the pudding: Microsoft is launching a new operating system on the phone that MUST succeed, Nokia was lagging behind in the smartphone market and maybe the Lumia series is the way up again for the Finnish company. The Lumia campaign is a rather big pr- and marketing operation with only one goal: showing that not only Apple, HTC and Samsung are making cool smartphones; Microsoft and Nokia can do it, too. Nokia also came up with an offline experience: they’ve managed to come up with a massive 4d projection in London on november 28th. It’s…. just awesome and worth every minute of
DJ Deadmau5’s music and the world’s most advanced 4D technology together: they created an amazing free light show at the Millbank Tower. Each of the 120 metre high building’s 800 windows were covered with vinyl as 16 powerful projectors, stationed 300 metres away on the other side of the river, beamed 3D images onto the structure. Huge butterflies flew across the London skyline and the tower was twisted, pulsated and even fell down.
A lot of money spent, there, we guess. But the video hit the 1.00.000 views mark in less than a week. That’s a job well done, so far. Very curious if the Nokia Lumia is just as great as the video… 🙂
